Top Tips for Newly Migrated School- HERO

Creating Groups, Shared and my groups all in one place. Making contact or target groups.

Staff FEED  Student FEED Community FEED - place for keeping students up to date. Could be used as a notice board, e.g. hockey team group notice.  Could be learning posts. A quick survey post.  Community notice can be sent to any group set up in HERO - A team trip notice - can have permission response survey attached. 

HERO App - able to add media, upload from devices. Posts can be reused for multiple students

In Learning Pages yellow pencil allows you to return to the top of the page if scrolled down. Three dots allow to edit the post and add further tags

Subscriptions

click on icon to manage subscriptions. eg. notified for all major tags, ELL group notified for any Learning support pages entered. Manage with group and tag.

Notifications Bell, view and/or mark all as read. Parents will also see the bell and kept up to date with learning posts and community feed.

Assessments

Can be added by individual or group

If you make an error entering data this can be updated within the same calendar day if needs altering. If longer than a day staff member with admin access needs to go back thru the individual.

Group Goal Setting

Best fit new calculation. Software will recognise the lowest levels a student is working on.

Student can move up and down a sublevel between mid and end year with age calculations as student moves to a new milestone.

PRogress charts all on one page. Class-current expectations. Can verify levels and edit all on one page. Can move slider if not accurate.  If need to edit further back entries go back to the individual and use edit pencil.

Slide show in parent view?? Do we have this support in our home page.

Progress Snapshots - can view student progress up or down.

Milestones and expectations

Can use top 2020 heading to group students e.g. red dots. From this data we can create a group by ticking the boxes of students for a tracking group.

Past data overview

Clicking on a mid or end year data allows you to identify the students working above, at or towards. Able to look at groups.

Post counts will enable to check if everyone has a learning post in a class. Green or pink shows if they are published or draft.

Quick posts allow you to enter by class rather than individuals

Setting Teacher Guidelines for reporting

Learning Pages. green padlocks mean content is viewable to parents. Red locks internal viewing. 

Posts can be entered for any individual or by class. 

add attachments. Can tag post to any current goals or curric tag and then save post. 

Can upload media when using the app on phone.

Able to reuse and edit a post for multiple students.

Able to enter posts at a groups level. Go to class-3 dots to teacher menu-quick posts- share something box. IF already posts can click on the link to take straight to that page.

Learner Profile- can use with a template

Proofreading learning posts- use button 'show posts that have not been proofread'. Can set editing function so staff can buddy check.

Edit page with a statement/explanation/info. Viewing options for parents, staff, students as an explanation about the page. 

Can add a link for staff - Hero Posting Guidelines. consistency across the school, shared language. Checkpoint dates set across the year., minimum expectations. Examples of posts. Importance of regular updates. e.g. If by week 8, of term a goal that has been set is not achieved, unset and replace with a new goal.  Include a reporting timetable.

Teacher Tips for reporting

Assessment overview, check assessment data below then can use edit pencil to adjust curriculum level up or down for OTJ.

As entering data saves as green so can come back to last entry.

Adding evidence against a goal. Recommended students have no more than 2 goals in a curriculum level.

New students backfilling - scroll to the bottom and use mark all as complete button.

Group goal setting - 

Reading - now grouped by all the goals students currently working on. Able to update by groups during lessons. USe for planning.

Verify levels with the sliders.

Posting, adding evidence. Set up pages so goals show as tags to show evidence for learning pages.

Quick posts to write and reuse posts for class and groups. Proofread in All posts, reading-curric. Posts in draft, once read edit save and click checked. Can select all and then publish as with Parent conferences. Can be used for staff to buddy proofread posts.

Tips and Tricks to get the most out of HERO- DID YOU KNOW

Can enable comments for teachers and/or parents to give feedback to work. 

Can add a simple survey with post. Can be used for permissions slips. 

Survey can also be attached to Community Feed. View responses collates the survey information. From survey can then make groups with info. USing group can then use List Builder to create a list of info for trip.

Can track the engagement of your community in posts - analyse engagement. By individual

or by community feed

Staff pages. Will be able to choose who you share pages with. Standards for appraisal. 

Lable can be different from title. Personalise the icon. 

Blurb different for staff, student and parents. Sentence starters for comments. Can drop images and slideshows. WHat constitutes a good post. Can choose current goals as tags against a page.

Parent will only see the pages that a comment/post is in. For example as child moves through the school.

Publishing. Class - insights - post counts. Way to ensure post is entered for month. Once published will turn green. 

Can change by month to Author. 

Can choose 'count by tags'  to analyse posts.

Go to double head and click on the three dots under teachers face to go straight to roll.

use morning or afternoon button to get accurate date and time.

Milestones and expectations will show 2 dots, good for checking any missing entries.

Click on child's face will take you straight to current report.

Can view as a caregiver for conferences.

Community Feed allows pinned image for sponsorship. -what parents can see. - Sponsored content. Drag and drop image. Only viewable on Community Feed. COuld be used to advertise for school shows- GLee, End of year Festival.
