Different Problems warrant different solutions
Cynefin Framework David Snowden
the Cynefin framework exists to help us realise that all situations are not created equal and to help us understand that different situations require different responses to successfully navigate them. The framework not only tells us how to approach a set of different situations, but the characteristics also explain enough to help us recognise the situation in which we currently reside. You can have great solutions, but if they are applied in the incorrect context, they will be worthless or worse, harmful.

Next Step: Create our ladder for learning
Learner Agency Core Education, Derek Wenmoth
Derek Wenmoth provides an explanation of learner agency in the first of CORE Education's ten trends for 2014. Derek describes three features: the initiative or self-regulation of the learner, the way agency mediates and is mediated by the sociocultural context of the classroom, and social connectedness - an awareness of the responsibility of one's own actions on others.
Reflection:
What is Learner Agency mean for us? How can I get my students to show what they know?
