own personal learning blogs - goals and reflections
"see one, do one, teach one, then you've learnt one" students being responsible for supporting others
Asking chn to explain constantly - what are you doing and why?
We need to remove the assumption that quality learning only happens when students are working directly with a teacher.
Often students have to relearn so much each year if they were taught it (Article), students who learn through discovery do not.

Remove scaffolding for success. students need to be able to solve their own problems. First point of call should become problem solving, crawling out of the pit
Learners train focus on the middle carriage to promote change in learning
What does environment look like?
Opportunities for collaborative and solo work-Chn select sign 'Don't distract me-Im in flow' option for solo learning OR collaborative

Tailoring our spaces
thinking space - road with idea spot-
students having access to curriculum to link their own learning pathways
class blogs-individual to present/share learning
students critique presentations, progressions must be established to share-students ask for them before presentation.
handing them the NZC learning progressions- e.g. here are the art progressions, how are you going to achieve them? Learning progression examples
Students must believe
- In a Growth Mindset: “I can change my intelligence and abilities through effort.”
- Self-Efficacy: “I can succeed.”
- Sense of Belonging: “I belong in this learning community.”
- Relevance: “This work has value and purpose for me.”
#reflective teacher- record yourself teaching
Challenge - How can you tell the difference between true engagement and compliance?
Reflection:
Remove scaffolding for success
Huge challenge for me. Everything I believe in teaching has been about scaffolding for success to build belief, self-esteem, developing positive attitudes.
So.. my challenge is to find a way of combining student agency within a program that supports my less able students, with continued focus on autonomy.
