Nigel Latta - Neuroscience, the Future and You

It was a privilege to listen to Nigel Latta speak today. He shared his belief of how invaluable teachers are and the impact we play in our students and families lives. Most importantly he stressed the need for us to care for ourselves.

50 hours of practice to master something 
Spiders - you have to stay on the train to overcome fear. Exposed to spider for 5-7mins. Brain overcomes the fear. 
Brains can also change quickly. 

Default network 
Neutral - human stuff - social 
Shape experiment with babies - friendly yellow triangle. Every baby picked up helpful yellow triangle
Social brains - we all have them - powerful. Helpful 
Swing side is emotional feelings of pain - hurt feelings. Grief and pain use the same feelings. Excluded. Health impact of loneliness.
