We want every learner to have access to the new learning, the vocabulary, new ideas, the discussion, the complex sentence structure they encounter that they would not be able to access by themselves.
As well as learning to decode and read from foundation up with SL teaching them to decode and read - double deficit in their oral language
After a certain point vocabulary and complexity only develops through reading and engaging with text. Text is where we find further complexity of language
Need to give them access through
